How many of those as a left back? Surely that ranks him EVEN HIGHER. 😀

It was absolute gold

Have you seen Jon Mackenzie’s analysis of Slot’s tweak in the second half? It did have an effect, our centre was much more vulnerable and they managed to play through our press, and like Jon says - it’s a recurring problem. I worry that Arteta is too dogmatic. Plan A is frequently the only Plan.

Surely we need to offload Kiwior and Zini first?

Has to be Isak. SPEND ALL THE MONEY. DO A MADNESS!!!
(We’ll get a Nico Jackson at best)

It’s me again… the bad omen… when was the last time we lost five - I can’t see us bit losing to Newcastle if we continue playing like this.
May 11, 2025 at 4:23 PM
Hmmm. When’s the last time we lost five in a row?
May 11, 2025 at 3:56 PM
Not to be the harbinger of doom… But… When’s the last time we lost three games, home and away, whatever, in a row…? Or four…!? PSG and Liverpool away next..
May 4, 2025 at 11:39 AM
We lost because we started the game very flat, with not enough intensity, conceded a quick goal and were rattled (yes, psychologically) for about 25 minutes. That’s almost a third of the tie gone (in which none of our structure was working).

Totally agree. Arsenal lacked intensity and PSG just held them at bay but I wasn’t convinced. Physically they felt quite soft.
April 29, 2025 at 9:33 PM
Not sure. Best team we played this year at home was Newcastle. Unfortunately. They’re very good, controlled the tempo, and antique def had upper hand over Arteta today. but we used none of our physicality and shied away from too many duels. Esp in the first half hour.

Your analysis of merino has been spot on! (As is your reading of Rice’s qualities!). Aaand the takeaway from real about it being better for us if they play long and cross…! So what says you about the Partey-less line up, first leg against PSG…?
April 17, 2025 at 2:27 PM
There was also “let the game flow” (or some similar bs tagline) that ended in a multitude of almost broken legs.

It’s MLS so it’s a penalty. Simples.

Willian?

Sing it mate 😉

It’s a terrible decision by Kepa and could be seen from the moon, but… Another one of football’s odd conventions… a striker dragging his foot across a diving (silly) ‘keeper PENALTY. When in football’s evolution did that become a clear and obvious pen…?

I was trying to convince someone the other day about tomi being our most versatile full back, full stop. Left, right, lock down salah, one on one defending, great aerially both in defence and attack, baller, two footed, great shot on him. The someone just said “sorry, I can’t remember tomi” ☹️
March 8, 2025 at 3:02 PM
Granted, he was better second half. Still, CBB. 😜
March 4, 2025 at 10:39 PM
I don’t know what this always is about. He’s been a shadow of himself today. Lost the ball repeatedly around and in the box, and very soft overall. I’m not having a go, I’m genuinely concerned (for him).
March 4, 2025 at 8:59 PM
Charles, can you explain what’s up with Odegaard? Is he ill?
March 4, 2025 at 8:55 PM
Surely he’s ill? He’s a shadow of the player he was currently.
March 4, 2025 at 8:54 PM
Is odegaard ill?
March 4, 2025 at 8:52 PM
We’re just a team that has a defensive lapse in us. Which is massive problem when a) we’re much better in a game state when ahead and it opens up a bit and b) when offensively we’re so limited. (And it’s not like we’ve been especially free flowing this year even before the injuries) Lack creativity
