The introduction covers a lot of this, but Stevie and I find the franchise and its fandom worthwhile in part because of how dismissable it is - women be watching trashy reality TV, amirite? Yet the show has elicited a whole host of cultural conversations and reckonings.

What we found when we sent out our call for pitches is a lot of what we expected to find: a fascinating, diverse viewership that largely saw the flaws in the franchise and yet found something worthwhile in it anyway - fun, friendship, a monocultural space through which to dissect American culture.
