The story of Jesus paying the temple tax in Matt 17 may serve as a bridge between the previous miraculous scenes and the upcoming teaching about being lowly like a child. Jesus just showed himself in dazzling glory at the transfiguration and now he can show his humility in paying a tax.

For the past few times I've taught Hebrews, my exams have simply asked students to summarize the author's argument up to the point we've reached in the semester. I'm grading those this morning and giving thanks for their beautiful reflections on our Great High Priest.

In our children's Sunday school, we use our craft time to make cards or work on long-term projects that would bless others as gifts. This term, we are making our own illuminated manuscripts.

My in-laws first met at a carnival close to 60 years ago. She worked selling ice cream, and he worked drawing caricatures. As an artist, his advice on learning to paint is to practice blending the colors on a paint by number kit. Here is one of the kits my kids got a while back:
