I haven't been on bluesky for a while but I just saw this. So true! The watches take up less space 😂

But in the time since this I've also hit TTRPG & dice collecting, went through another Lego stage, and just pulled out my old rock collection so I'm in big trouble 💀

Thank you! These are some great resources! I love podcasts and will definitely check that out

I've heard some really good things about it so far!

These are some great ideas! A prelude sounds really fun.

I looked that up and bought it along with the Dragon of Icespire Peak essentials kit! Thanks for the recommendation :) it looks like it will be a great place to start!

Thank you! I'll take a look at that post and see if I can try it out for myself sometime soon
December 11, 2024 at 2:28 PM
Hahaha fair enough! I think I'll be quite happy to be a part of it

From the sound of it, all the work is really worthwhile for the amount of fun you can have with it! I'll be looking into some of those guides as well. From the response to this post it seems like there's a ton of resources out there and lots of people willing to help.

Or lock them in a tower!

I love that way of doing things! I think worldbuilding in general can be really fun, but putting that pressure on myself for a campaign just feels like too much to start out.

Also, how do you play solo? That actually sounds fantastic.

That's a good point! If they can do it I can too 😁

My wife would like me to run Tales from the Loop eventually, but I'm thinking of starting with a smaller adventure in a more traditional setting for my first game
December 11, 2024 at 2:16 PM
I definitely would appreciate the recommendations!

So far, my wife seems excited about the idea of Tales from the Loop (because players can't die) but I think I could feel more comfortable jumping into a more traditional fantasy or sci-fi setting, especially for a starter adventure as a new gm

I'm honestly surprised to see just how many! But it's very cool to see that I'm in good company
December 11, 2024 at 2:08 PM
That's definitely what I'm hoping for! I think everyone else will try to keep that same mindset too
December 11, 2024 at 2:06 PM
I'm very excited to get to do a few funny voices! Probably one of the things I'm most looking forward to.

Also, very good advice to hold the rules more loosely, especially if they get in the way of the fun.

I think everyone else will also be learning! It will be good to be doing that together as a group.
December 11, 2024 at 2:01 PM
I think I had definitely put the expectation on myself to know all the ins and outs of it when asking the question in my post. It feels a lot better to think about it as a much more fluid learning experience focused on just the fun of it and not just the rules, worlds, characters, etc.

I've never heard of a one-page rpg but that sounds amazing! I'll definitely be looking that up.
December 11, 2024 at 1:54 PM
It's good to remember that not every session will be a nat 20 😂 and that it really doesn't have to be to create a good experience.
