Just me looking around and checking out Bluesky. Formerly of Twitter and also on Mastodon. Resident of Montréal Canada.
Project 2025 promised they would resurrect the Comstock act through a White House edict or Republican legislation so it’s coming either way. Trump has been diligently working down their list. So frankly it’s past the point of worry. The time for worry was before the election.

Because even today when the discussion topic of mental illness comes up some people make a point to insist that depression isn’t an illness, it’s a moral failing. Then add conspiracy theories about the drug industry and good old misogyny and voilà.

Us Canadians appreciate the gesture, but if the townsfolk want us back, they should be talking to the person who is currently occupying the White House. That is where the problem that prevents our return lies.

The only problem being we Canadians are debating how long we can keep selling electricity to the US since its government is openly hostile to us. There's no win in doing more business with a country who wants to destroy/occupy us. Future clean energy projects will likely be for us, alone.

I agree 100%. A month ago I learned one of the medications I take makes the effects of heat worse. I didn't think it was an issue until two weekends ago when I pushed myself a little too hard on a hot and humid day, and after I had a half an hour of feeling like crap and trying not to pass out.

You realize that it’s not a neighbourhood but an open air mall, right? Is this journalism or an ad for a shopping centre being presented as journalism? Because it feels more like an ad to me given you’re reporting on a shopping centre’s redecoration.

You want something? Negotiate like a civilized person. Let the bully know if tariffs are on the table then there’s no negotiating for anything; you tariff us, we tariff you. You want a trade war? Well give you one.

Remember when Goldman Sachs and their experts went in detail about how AI is an incredibly bad investment doomed to fail in its current incarnation? I do. Nobody should be putting money into it least of all government. It’s basically a tech bro Ponzi scheme.

While I am loath to agree with the self obsessed boomers, the Beatles really did some good work. They consistently produced songs that became classics that hold up even today.

Given the mid-terms will likely be run by Trump and his circus, as they've already taken steps to take the process away from the states, I expect it won't be an issue. In fact I expect the Republicans will "coincidentally" win a record landslide.

Everyone I know outside of the US have cancelled any visits to the US, including many Americans living overseas as they see it as too dangerous- they expect arbitrary detainment at the border.

I received an email about that too, even though I don't have an Android phone nor use Gemini. I got an email a few months ago stating that "You're now using Gemini on web" which I wasn't. I asked Google's product forums specifically how to disable Gemini completely and they threatened to ban me.
