In de jaren voor 1975 gingen er in zowel Suriname als Nederland steeds meer stemmen op voor de onafhankelijkheid van Suriname. Zo ook bij LOSON, een belangenbehartigingsorganisatie voor Surinamers in Nederland, van wie het IISG het archief beheert.

Great news! Our colleague Touraj Atabaki won a prestigious prize for his latest book Toiling for Oil: A Social History of Petroleum in Iran. He was awarded the annual prize to the best scholarly work in Middle Eastern Studies by the British-Kuwait Friendship Society Book Prize.
