My late father was from Cyprus so well done on the insult. Nevertheless, holding elections does not legitimise an illegal occupation.

'Democratically elected' by the population of the illegally occupied post of the island. But yes I think the least Turkey should do is remove all or most of the 30000 troops they have on the island

Of course awful things were done on both sides. But only one side continues to illegally occupy part of the island and that is Turkey.

Land left behind by refugees in the north in 74 was simply stolen whereas land in the south is held by the Cyprus govt and will be returned when there is a settlement. In the meantime it has been used to house refugees. So there is no quid pro quo here.

So the Greek Cypriots whose land was stolen in 1974 have to suck it up because it all happened so long ago? What is the time limit on caring about this sort of thing?
