From next week there will be some changes to our opening hours:

Thursday 24 July - the IHR will be closed
From 28 July-30 August:
Mon-Friday 09.00-18.30
No Saturday opening
Regular hours will resume on 1 September

It's new books time again. Displays on the 1st and 2nd floors show a wide range of new acquisitions from medieval astrology to postwar Detroit, from the literature inspired by the Norman Conquest to the latest VCH Short about the parish of Cradley. Feel free to come have a browse

With it being the 4th of July we thought we'd let readers know, who are researching or reflecting on the US, of our collections, with strengths including the Revolutionary War, the Constitution and the early Republic; we also collect sources up to the present.

Today probably won't be the first hot day of the summer. Water bottles can be refilled from the drinking water tap in the common room and the cooler parts of the library tend to be on the north (tree-facing) side of the building and the basement reading rooms.

To mark Canada's National Indigenous History Month, here are some of the work readers can find in the library about the histories and experiences of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. These are part of the Canadian history collection which can be found in the North American reading room.
