Lad from the land, Cove from the Country. Bonsai grower, flag flyer, egalitarian world traveller (see @puntersclub) woke green environmentalist. Married to @picanto Living on Gadigal Country
Here's my Intense Care Unit for Bonsais. I have a Sandpaper & Port Jackson Fig being lifted over Sandstone (the wet paper is to keep the roots moist), my recently repotted Coastal Banksia & if you remember, some remnant Azalea from the 50yr old bush I removed from the yard, to be potted next year.

One of my Bonsai Coastal Banksias needed a repot. Root bound, I was hoping to trim the roots & pop it back in it's own pot but a large main root prevented that. 3rd photo has a large thick root between my fingers that if damaged probably would have killed the plant. So it's repotted & now we wait.

An update on my Wollemi Pine (Wollemia nobilis) Bonsai. Season's new growth is distinctly smaller than last years, so my take, it's starting to repond to the pot's confines. #AustralianNativeBonsai

Nothing screams woeful leadership louder than waiting until it's too late to act. (BTW, We've had our solar battery for about a month, good for the environment good for the wallet)

4 November is the 150th National Day of the Kingdom of Tonga. It marks the introduction of its first written constitution on 4 November 4 1875. To celebrate I'm flying my Tongan Flag in Sydney. We had a fabulous short stay there last year.

I watered my Bonsais mid morning becauseof the heat. And 6.15pm comes & all survived this classic Sydney afternoon thunderstorm just now. (BTW, Cook Islands flag flown today) and NO hail, phew.

My Grass Tree (Xanthorrhoea Glauca) Bonsai flower is almost in full bloom. You may see it in the upcoming edition of Gardening Australia M magazine.

Peters certainly slipped this through the cracks. They seemingly no longer make lactose free icecream

Went to Petra this morning. This is my introduction to the Treasury Building. #Petra

Sunday morning church service Tochni Cyprus.

Having a quick break in Cyprus in the small village of Tochni. The seasonal rains failed this year & it's exceedingly dry. Tochni is a classic Greek style stone village without the stonewash or blue colouring. Cyprus is the word 'Copper' derives from. Here for a few days then on the Jordan.

Our White Waratah has bucked convention. It had over 20 flower heads this year but 1 flower head had 4 flowers & two others sprung smaller pup like flowers from the main flower. I have never known anything like it.

Next morning. Tree is doing well, mottled sunlight until 3pm or so, then full sun.

I repotted one of my Costal Banksias (Banksia Integrifolia). I removed about 2cm off the bottom of the roots, then scrapped the sides, teased & cut away some smaller side roots. Repotted in fresh soil & sitting in a saucer of shaded water. Progressive amounts of full sun for the first week or so.

I gave my Black She-oak (Allocasuarina Littoralis) some tough love in Autumn & pleased to see some new shoots emerging on the main trunk.

My Sydney Red Gum (Angophora Costata) is just about to shed it's bark again. I'm going to lightly prune the new growth & cut away some of the deadwood.

My Plunket Mallee (Eucalyptus Curtisii) is really coming along. I've had to wire branches to change it's centre of gravity and it's responded nicely.

An update. The 4 sad tubestock I bought last December are now on the way as Bonsais. The trunks on the Yellow Bloodwood, Rough Bark Apple & Swamp Mahogany are looking great (probably in the tubes for 3-4yrs). The Turpentine was the saddest, it's flourishing

I get an enormous amount of pleasure from my miniature Bonsais. In this group there's 3 types of Ficus & a Eucalypt.

I have a very dear friend & her partner cruising the North Pacific at the moment, I just received this stunning photo of Valdez harbour.

Yes, let's give the LNP more time to lie down with dogs.

Our White Waratah is in flower. We have 25 flowers this year & one head has 4 conjoined flowers (not out yet so no photo yet but will follow in a few days time)

I was asked if I'd photoshopped my Bonsai Grass Tree (Xanthorrhoea Glauca) because it was a single photo, so here's a video. (And thankyou for thinking I had the computer skills to fake my proudest Bonsai moment). #AustralianNativeBonsai

Well it may be my Flowering Australian Grass Tree (Xanthorrhoea Glauca) is possibly the only one like it in the world. The Canberra Arboretum haven't ever heard of one & now the Mount Annan Botanic Garden haven't either. Question is, should I sell it?
