Oh.. reminds me of primary school days. Close enough to 1999 that ppl took the drills seriously. I mean for us it was a bit of fun but the teachers were quite rigorous about it, we’d have classes on earthquake safety too I think. Idk now, feels like not even Feb 6th is taken seriously enough…

I think that was mentioned, can’t remember for sure, but definitely not one of the branches of production she spoke abt at length on.

Tangentially I attended a book presentation abt Cyprus archaeology the other day, churches in late antiquity (400-700 AD), how they were apparently used for production, like olive oil, pottery, agriculture &c. Quite nice, book is Catherine Keane’s “More than a church”

I'm looking for history related mailing lists and listservs and newsletters but they remain elusive. Search queries are very unhelpful because either I get no results, or all results about computing history, "listserv is 35 years old" or similar. Computers are surely out there to help us

But indeed rarely is the goal of the Ai bro ethical, to boot. They like to talk about the least vilr applications and never deep fakes, harassment, spam, disinfo, etc., which aare the main applications actually.
