3 + 4 + 3 + 4 = 7 + 7 = 14

I remember in 4th grade or whenever I learned the multiplication table, writing it out over and over, starting with the outline, then the twos across and down, the fives across and down, tens across and down, nines were easy, adding and subtracting to fill in the rest (sevens always last)

Tahini behaves that way. I never tried with peanut butter (but I have walked past G W Carver’s lab several times)

… that’s why your first post, “welcome them, don’t insult them, let people change” is so important and why I’m disappointed you’re not getting more positive comments

A lot of people talk as though MAGA are going to stop supporting Trump when they see how his policies hurt them, but I agree none of it is about policies, it’s all about emotions (not really none/all, but maybe 15/85%)

Why am I the first “like” on your comment? There was some hope of having a constructive discussion, but most commentors seem to want to yell at the OP. Insults won’t help

It’s got to have something to do with 9 * 4 =36 but where to put the decimal point? 90% is “almost all” so 36 must be 90% of 40, 9 is 1/10 of 90 so 9% is 1/10 of 90% so the answer is 1/10 of 36 so 3.6. Check: 9% is about 10% which is 1/10, 3.6 is about 4 which is 1/10 of 40, it checks.

I did the 21-15 and saw that the air in the right hand bottle was 6 high, so half the volume of the water in the left bottle, so half the volume of the water, so 1/3 of the whole volume, so 2/3 is filled with water.

What I like the best are “more than one way to do it” and “understand how it makes sense”. There are so many things that don’t make sense, this year more than ever, that it’s really important to know that at least math does.

Oh, that would be the quick way to find what the missing number in a column or row or cell is, I never thought of that

3 * (1+2+…+10)=3*(1+10 + 2+9 + … + 5+6) , that was 5 pairs that each added up to 11 so 3*5*11 =15 * 11 = 165 I can never remember if I need n*(n+1)/2 or n*(n-1)/2, and even for 1+2=3 I would get confused before I was sure what n was without pencil and paper.

Salmon, Idaho, 200th anniversary of when Lewis & Clark & Sacajawea came over the continental divide. Festivities include a concert. Rock music??? Then I thought, no that’s perfect. That music started as jazz in New Orleans and made its way up that same river.

I was going to ask “How about Niagara Falls” but then I remembered the Underground Railroad museum there so I have no objection

To 0 — but I round 0.5 to 0 and 1.5 to 2, going to the even option.

20,000 years ago the conservatives in Lascaux were saying, “why are those weirdos making marks on our cave walls?”

I do “1/3 of 45 is 1/3 of 30% of that same number, 15 is 10% of 150, 45 is 30% of 150”. It checks.
