Movie dork and also other stuff dork. Cladistically a fish. Good at trivia if there's not too many sports questions
The episode director's said it was inspired by the Zagreb Films short Surogat, which won the Best Animated Short Oscar in 1962. But Surogat looks clearly inspired by the American studio UPA, and I haven't seen much else from Eastern Europe that looks like that.

I like that you have to specify "Francisco" because in most contexts he's clearly the most famous Franco, but in this one there's a risk of a reader wondering why Jess is catching a stray

Grip was at the Academy of Natural Sciences earlier this year and I had the odd experience of "oh hey! Didn't expect to run into you here" with a piece of taxidermy

Every year I go to a 24-hour horror movie marathon, which generally ends with a big fun crowd-pleaser like Army of Darkness, The Frighteners, and such. The year they ended with The Descent had one of the quietest pack-up-and-leave phases I've seen. Definitely gnarly, definitely rules.

I won't say that recent Mountain Goats are as consistently great as they were in the 2000s, but any band that can put an "Extraction Point" or "Let Me Bathe in Demonic Light" on the board has still got plenty of juice. (There's also the question of when to start that 20-year clock...)

Ever since I couldn't justify going to Oakland for it in 2012, I've been hoping to someday catch a screening of Napoleon with the full three-simultaneous-projectors Polyvision setup. I'd hoped the new Netflix-funded restoration would lead to some of those, but haven't heard about anything.

I just watched Decline of Western Civilization Part 2 and based on those interviews, within the hair metal scene lipstick seems like the controversial dividing line between "I'm such a manly man that I can dress like THIS to get chicks!!" and "nah, performing masculinity isn't what I'm here for"
