Additionally, we’ve also set up a handling protocol for individuals that are caught by trawl and trammel nets to minimise their at-vessel and post-release mortality. This protocol has been designed in collab with the fishermen and an illustrated version has been created to be used on board. (2/3)

Though we still need to work on proper reporting of discards, the study concludes sharks and rays represent little to no revenue for Mediterranean fleets.

And now the fun bit. To any of the authors, if you ever read this: I was there in summer 2014 with the OR team as an intern. Got to take part in your experiment for a couple days and it was fun to finally read the results. I even have my own "Figure 1A" :D
