Here's a good reason why. The charts are from the last three CBA reports. Notice the % spending is up (green or yellow) for over 50s in ALL charts. Now look at absolute $ on the side. The weighted mean for the 70+ group on the earliest chart is $2496. On the latest chart it's $2203. It's gone down!

It bothers me slightly more than somewhat that people continue to separate the % increase in spending chart from the absolute level of spending chart, which appear together in the CBA reports.

Labor needs to emphasise that inflation has taken the same form everywhere in the world post Covid, and compare Oz to others. I've added together a few September monthly annual inflation rates together. Turkiye left off the chart.
