Respectfully, your colleague compared a water bottle — placed by staff — to a pandemic-era "scandal," while quoting anonymous critics likely in violation of your own newsroom's sourcing policy (see John Myers post on Twitter earlier today) and whose claims are both offensive and false.

We respect critical reporting. That's not what this is — and we're going to call out framing that crosses the line from journalism into performance, which unfortunately, this “reporting” does.

Pointing out a reporter’s own proximity to a plastic bottle isn’t an attack. It’s a fair critique of Susanne’s selective outrage about our society’s use of single-use plastics, including your organization’s own heavy reliance on them.
