I think maybe I’ll *try* to post a pic a day of flowers. Spoon shortage makes capacity & bandwidth unpredictable & I’m not able to contribute to current events the way I’d like. But maybe I can brighten the feed & fuel others in their efforts w/florals along the way. #dahlias #bloomscroll #flowers
Image shows Kari Blue waterlily dahlia flower against a backdrop of greenery of leaves from other surrounding dahlia plants. Kari Blue is not actually blue as blue is not a color dahlias can be. Kari Blue is a soft yet saturated pinky purple cool toned waterlily dahlia with the deeper purple lavender tones concentrated towards the middle petals as they emerge from the center of the flower, with the outer petals displaying a softer gradient fade from petal attachment to petal tip in the shades of deeper lavender to lilac to muted pink. It cups in the center and as it opens, those outer petals start to lay flatter, sort of like a ballerina’s tutu, or better yet maybe like a saucer of a tea cup and saucer pairing. Waterlily dahlias open up more with sun and warmth of the day, and close up more in the cool of mornings and evenings. They typically have between 4-7 layers of fully developed petals. Kari Blue has 7 layers in this photo so it is quite fluffy. The blooms are typically approx 3-4” in diameter. This one is particular is 4”. The plant itself is about 4 feet tall in my growing space.
