I didn’t realize I’m so nostalgic for the square boxes that CPUs used to come in. When intel moved to the thin boxes I didn’t think much of it. But cracking open the ryzen with the magnets brought me back to 2014 haswel

when I decided to buy a new GPU I wasn't anticipating upgrading my entire PC
December 20, 2025 at 10:34 AM
i got 10 years out of my last GPU, and I've gotten a lot of time out of my CPU/RAM. My biggest regret was not getting 32GB of RAM in 2018. but that's OK

i'm probably gonna opt to spend the money, despite RAM prices being a fortune right now. i don't want to practice poverty

my mother board sadly doesn't play nice with PCI gen 5. no matter how hard I tried to make it play nice. doens't even work at 4x speeds

I have to return the GPU or spend a lot of money to uograde my entire PC

got it for $730CAD before tax. which is pretty nice. but still expensive

as a general rule, if someone chose an extra wide aspect ratio, I'd assume they probably don't want their show to be watched on an ipad
December 18, 2025 at 7:33 PM
you're probably right hahah. but even with this aspect ratio on a standard home TV would have black bars I suspect. I don't watch stuff on a TV unless I'm with people

I want 4:3 to come back

i know you're not posting about me but i wanted to chime in and say i play almost all my video games with the TV/console/PC on mute and i just listen to my own music or podcasts. and i usually skip cutscenes (in most games i've played in the last 5 years. which admittedly isn't *that* many)

on one hand, i can see how it's funny for the people doing it. just like when i'm with my friends, and i talk into a banana, it can be hilarious. but on a show it breaks my immersion. although i'm not really watching a sitcom to be immersed. and it is a bit funny. but not for the right reasons
