a Data Efreeti. For a while there, I was in the #blaseball universe, captured in a genie bottle connected to the SIBR datablase. Now getting drawn into the #MMOLB numbers ... owner of the Fork King Shirt Balls team.
Oh and for the record, my one win? My offense went nuts. They *are* capable of it. Six run 5th inning, another CG for my starter.

These are all games against very good teams, all won more than me this season. I went toe to toe in every game, my pitching held them all down. This 1B was Recomposed at the middle of the season. Her equip is 34 Contact, 35 Intim, 19 Muscle, 16 Speed. She hit ... .190, OPS+ of 69.

Bumbli went 73-47. 2-1 loss again, this time I'm the one w/ a solo HR. But I did have 1st & 3rd w/ 1 out in the 5th. So I can't lose the lead runner stealing 3rd, right? Nah, this time they're caught STEALING HOME during a strikeout. BTW, I had 2 strike em out, throw em out double plays in game 1.
September 6, 2025 at 5:18 PM
My closer should be in there in the 10th, my SP1 is clearly exhausted. Only allowed one double, but that's enough when now down 1 in the 10th, with 1 out ... my ghost runner/tie score is CAUGHT STEALING 3rd at the start of a walk. Next batter strikes out, and it's a 2-1 loss.

Portland went 67-53. This is the most normal loss. Only 3 hits for me again, but i lead 2-1 in the 9th. Again, they just have a solo HR. My closer was 26 of 30 in s5, gets the 1st two outs and then blows the save and the game: BB, 2B, 2 RBI single. That's two down.

Carnegie went 73-47. Both pitchers throw 3H CGs, my guy Ks 16 but a solo HR. I have ... 3 RCS. In the 9th, after 1 out, I get a walk. Runner steals 2nd during the K for 2nd out. With my cleanup and best hitter up, on the first pitch ... the runner is caught stealing 3rd. 1-0, that's one down.

And the season 5 Chorby Short Award for longest PA goes to ... Hye-Jin Roche, with 16 pitches (11 foul balls)

So 139.8 MPH for the top HBP doesn't sound TOO bad, right? After all, it's slower than the top speed pitch last season, which happened to be the original TLL. Yeah well .. Let's talk Pitch Whales and Whale Tails. Last season, I made a separate chart for the top 100 pitches b/c they were hard to see

I tested out giving Kennedy "One Trick Pony" Schmidt some more Control items. This wasn't his only game w/ the new equip, but his most recent .. a CGSHO. The diff? He still pounded down & inside, but less often to the outside and instead ... a bit more dead middle or lower middle. He's just weird.
August 4, 2025 at 2:07 AM
I've done some additional research on this. It turns out that Kennedy Schmidt is not the most Kennedy Schmidt of this. Meet Ulian Al-Masry, the reliever who is even more corner obsessed than Kennedy: 44.51% of their pitches go to that corner.

So this is new, I'm reporting on a weird player of MY OWN.

I noticed my recently recomposed pitcher only threw 1 pitch (slider). But I *also* noticed that a lot of his pitches hit the same zone; inside and low to righties. I mean, A LOT. Almost 40%! How is he getting away with this? :P

Which are the 3 diff, 3 run double groundballs to the pitcher. Those bad boys must have RICOCHETED like crazy after pinging off what was hopefully just a foot or buttock. This is the kind of stuff I love finding!

Last season, i'd call the "tail" the range of 112-136 MPH. This season? 115-144.7! Less pitches are reaching the top, but the top is getting back up there. And we have some interesting things happening there. Let's zoom in on the top 100 speeds, starting at 124 MPH. There are FIVE PITCH TYPES!

I will start, as I always do, with my beloved Pitch Whales. These are scale maps of the combinations of Pitch Type and MPH thrown throughout the Lesser Leagues in S3. The overall picture hasn't changed much, but two details I'd like to point out ...

Overall, I didn't think there wasn't enough change to warrant the split charts of Days 1-25, then 26-240. Which is a change, because pointing out drastic change is the fun stuff for me! :) But 10 of the top 15 fastest pitches all did happen pre-Augment reroll.

With the S2 Greatest Series just getting started, let's go through some S2 Lesser League final stats! First up, of course, my beloved Pitch Whales; showing the volume & speed of all pitches thrown in S2.

The curvature is much the same, with a few things to note that don't immediately show ...

NOPE. Somehow, in my research, I found the ONLY TWO TIMES IT HAPPENED. Twice it was a ground ball where they managed to catch the runner at 1st and a run scored. HRM.

Ya know, P to 2B to RF, that old play (this is the Superstar game, where players may be out of position but listed as their usual position)

Once in a while I feel like I contributed in some small way by being an efreeti stuck in a database. :p
July 2, 2025 at 9:52 PM
Uhhh .. yeah. Something changed again. Doubles and triples went buh bye. Triples averaged 227 a day through Day 194 .. now in the last 4 Lesser League game days, there have been 128 total. Guess MMOLB doesn't like excitement! /jk
July 2, 2025 at 4:15 PM
A reminder that MMOLB is still in early days, and Danny is doing adjustments on the fly ... the early s2 stamina change for pitchers didn't seem to do much to batting averages, but the code change using attributes yesterday sure did; from .258 to .302 for two days, then a change brought us to .199!
