The trees in our garden are shedding their leaves. There is a golden carpet over the lawn, a lovely Autumnal scene.
Except this is August!

PUBLIC SERVICES STRIKES
 
In past times workers in public services were generally paid less than comparable private sector employees.
A general view was t hat there were compensations :job security, better conditions, more holidays.
