Pseudo-3D Imaging on a budget: Introduction to Reflectance Transformation Imaging
Pseudo-3D Imaging on a budget: Introduction to Reflectance Transformation Imaging John McEwan, KU Libraries November 4th, 12 PM Registration Reflectance Transformation Imaging (RTI) is a photographic technique that creates a digital visualization of an object. RTI simulates how the appearance of an object changes as it is viewed with light from different angles. RTI visualizations are most commonly used in forensic science, art conservation, and archaeology, but they can be helpful in understanding any sort of object with fine features. Indeed, an RTI can reveal features of an object that are invisible to the naked eye. Nonetheless, an RTI visualization can be created using relatively affordable equipment and the software is free. In this workshop, you will learn the basics of creating an RTI using a variety of easily sourced equipment, including string, ball-bearings and Lego. Registration is required.
