No goofy, our government has been squeezing the middle class for so long that the average American citizen is struggling to make ends meet and that is by design. I can only guess you are a Canadian and hence you don’t understand what life is like for us. I have been sounding the alarm since 2016

I definitely agree but I think the low numbers are a reflection of the average Americans inability to get ahead of their bills long enough to look around. Many who would are unable or uninformed. It’s pretty hard to go protest when the rent is late, and your car is broken.
