They were complicit in getting Trump elected. When they could have called him out for the things he was saying they tried to "sane-wash" it and "both-sides" the issues. Treating Donald Trump like a regular candidate and not a lying felon who happens to be running for president was a huge mistake.

True. It's likely bluster. But who knows - maybe he lets gas prices jack up, blames Biden since it is still early, justifies more fracking and drilling, the oil lobby makes record profits. Drops tariffs later, gas prices go down, he takes credit of course... seems simple... 😉
