I live in Japan and I volunteer at a temple that helps refugees whose asylum claims have been denied. Once I met this man from Tanzania who dreamed so passionately about one day moving to the US and I just didn't have the heart to tell him that the US wouldn't even let him on its doorstep. It sucks.
