as long as the material conditions of people’s lives are tied to patterns of racial inequality — as long as racism marks them as racialized people exposed to some
of the worst forms of social domination and class inequality — then there is no disregarding race as a social reality

a thought i’ll put out there: it is not the ideological moderation that is the electoral problem, it is that selecting for candidates who chase popular issue positions is necessarily selecting for candidates who exude the kind of focused-group affect that voters genuinely hate

these people don’t believe anything. it’s just the concentrated selfishness of entitled rich kids who believe the world owes them praise and admiration and who are having the equivalent of a tantrum when it becomes clear that they haven’t earned it
