An SNL-worthy performance. Completely weird, yet unsurprising.

Not sure if The Intercept counts as mainstream media, but in its Deconstructed podcast from this summer, Ryan Grim, whom I generally like, essentially gave Rufo a gentle hand job for 45 minutes. They need to rename that episode “The Normalizing of Christopher Rufo”. It was disgraceful.

There is no penalty for hypocrisy, so they’ll just rule according to their preferences and not think twice about it.

The greatest physical risk to any of the judges in these cases is self injury as they twist themselves into knots trying to figure out ways avoid jailing Trump, or even meaningfully restraining him.

I was about to say that you have to define “remand to custody” as the ankle monitor solution for this prediction to become true.

I predict that under no circumstances will DT see the inside of a prison cell. Ever.
Even if he’s convicted and sentenced, he’ll be free pending appeal, for years.

Probably true. His use of the term more broadly describes monopoly making and monopoly rent seeking behavior, and the only thing it adds is a descriptor that explains how we all feel about the late stages of the process. A term ripe for overly simplified misuse.

In my reading of Doctorow, he explained the details, platform by platform, how they went through the same lifecycle phases to end up screwing over everyone but themselves. He seemed to use the term rather precisely, at least here:
