Students in the Bacteriophage Discovery and Genomics course went head-to-head in a friendly competition known as the Phage Olympics, where they presented their best case as to why the phage they found and named deserved to have its genome sequenced.

A pair of ISU researchers helped discover what has been killing newly hatched Chinook salmon. Their findings, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, revealed that the culprit was what they had been eating.

Geosciences' volcanology class braved cold, wet weather to camp and hike some of the volcanoes of the Eastern Snake River Plain. On the trip, they were studying the different eruption outcomes that happen when magma and water interact.
