I also avoid cameras, but also because my opinions may not sit well with my employer. If I post something and call them out by name, I'd rather they not know who I am. I'm too old to start looking for another job. 🤫

I play Guild Wars 2, which is free to play to start - would give you an idea if you like it or not. I started it like ten years ago and I'm now 60. I have a good group in-game that I hang with. It's a very friendly game compared to most MMOs.
