Trying to turn wood into marble in bovine pangenomics. If I'm not pushing commits, I'm hopefully off diving.
For (ultra)long ONT reads, how do people check if they are real or technical artefacts? Checking for low (aligned length)/(read length) is easy enough, but is there a better way? I checked @wdecoster.bsky.social's repos (which is step 1 for any ONT question for me) and couldn't see an easy solution.

Great questions after giving an introduction to pangenomes webinar with @training.ebi.embl.org Hard to summarise a field that means something completely different to researchers depending on their subfield, but gave it a shot. Excited for the rest of the series!

Gripping read for anyone (there are literally dozens of us) who find novellas about matrix decomposition interesting. I now also need to find a way to sneak "yak shaving" into the next project with yaks.

New phd position open in the Animal Genomics ETH group. Interesting chance to work with lots of long read sequencing, T2T assemblies, de novo mutations, the list goes on! Some more details here jobs.ethz.ch/job/view/JOP....
