Were you of “following high school football” age when Terry Smith was at Gateway? Putting aside all the mess I’m about to listen to on your episode, I cannot believe the coach who had that run of talent and never so much as made the state tournament is a serious candidate for a major college job

I’m annoyed at Penn State for ruining that game as a highlight. I do find this team incredibly likable. There also is tremendous peace of mind in having a defense this good.

4. Is the Ivy’s playoff timing right or terrible? The sport has so shifted away from the east, largely because of the power programs that have all moved up (App, Georgia Southern, Marshall, Delaware, JMU, etc.) - is it worse to lose regional playoff opponents or better to fill that power vacuum?

1. No athletic scholarships and Ivies is a red herring. The real count is “equivalencies”, or the dollar value of aid the school is giving out in terms of how many scholarships that is. In practice, they can and do go way over NCAA scholarship limits with the resources they have available.
