Sure, I more was referring to substantial calories to maintain your body’s needs. Can’t absorb enough from alcohol to sustain a person via the rectum.

Damn thanks for the rabbit hole! Also called a Murphy Drip, mainly alcohol sugar and electrolytes only can be absorbed in the large colon, so technically cannot be “fed” I.e. no calories, etc. but crazy interesting nonetheless!
