In my mid-teens I went to the Woolworths in Greenwich Village looking for a Black Sabbath album. I saw the newly-released Blues For Allah LP on display, and only because of the fiddling skeleton on the cover (it is still a striking image) did I pick it up. Engraved on my brain to this day.

I remember coming up to our summer cottage in N. Eastham on Columbus day and a family of red squirrels had gotten inside. Every windowsill had a neat pile of squirrel dung. Snow's had Havahart traps and 12 squirrels were relocated to the Marconi site. Lots of empty woods for them to live in.

Saw Flight 11 as it flew fast and low over the Hudson carrying the husband of a childhood friend and other innocent passengers and flight crew to their deaths. One of my students died in a tower collapse. Just spent 15 minutes in quiet contemplation at my campus' memorial.

I was one of the kids who had difficulty with spelling later on. I was also diagnosed with a mild form of dyslexia which didn't help. Fortunately, I am a voracious reader and dictionary/encyclopedia enthuthiast. I still mess up in "I before E" words, and sause (sauce) all the time.
