Just an old nerd helping. Always up for nerdy facts, dry humour, or tales of hijinks. Training for Valhalla.
Shield Brothers and Sisters,

Ventured into the origins of Gothic fiction with The Castle of Otranto, and while its legacy is undeniable, the experience? A melodramatic slog. Fainting women, noble bloodlines, and overwrought tragedy—it’s more theatre than thrill. Read a TL DR instead.

Shield Brothers and Sisters,

I've remembered why I rarely buy games on release—no time to play and spoilers lurking at every turn! I need to carve out time for Majima’s madness, but until then, I’ll be dodging spoilers like a berserker in battle. Ugh.

Diving into early horror foundations—The Castle of Otranto by Horace Walpole. It’s said to be the first gothic novel, shaping the genre with its haunted halls and cursed bloodlines. Let’s see how well it holds up and what echoes remain in modern horror.

Shield Brothers and Sisters,

The King in Yellow is a book of two halves—one gripping, the other forgettable. The cosmic horror is masterful, hinting at a mythos that never was. Then, it abandons terror for dull Parisian romance. Frustrating read, wasted in execution. 2.5/5

An unusual day with the youngling as their mother was at work—chaotic but full of small victories. Still managed three workouts and a run, so I’ll call that a win. Some days require more balance, but progress finds its way.

A quiet day—just a couple of workouts and a run, nothing too intense. Taking it easy, letting the body recover. Some days are for pushing forward, others for steady steps. Balance is key.

The past week has been a whirlwind—more training, more movement, and now, something else to process. I’ve finally got my formal AuADHD diagnosis. Not sure how I feel yet, but forgetting my login for days was a pain We keep going.

A new read begins—The King in Yellow. I know little of the author, Robert W. Chambers, or what to expect, but there’s something intriguing about diving into the unknown. Let’s see where this strange journey takes me, hopefully not to insanity!

Shield Brothers and Sisters,

Reading has slowed, but another book is done. The Man Who Was Thursday is a strange ride—witty, absurd, and shifting from spy thriller to theological puzzle. Fun at first, but its heavier themes may not land for all. Worth the journey, albiet a uneven path.

These are heavy days, and words often fall short. But if nothing else, guard your mind as you would your home. Others may not always be kind, but you can be—to yourself and to those who need it.

Three days, three 10K runs—legs are feeling it now. Time to rest and recover before pushing forward again. Progress is built with both effort and balance.

Shield Brothers and Sisters,

Red Mars promised an epic journey, but instead, it felt like wading through endless exposition. While the worldbuilding is impressive, the story drags under its own weight, with characters that serve ideologies rather than the plot. 2/5

10K on an incline treadmill—halfway to goal. Pumped some iron for good measure, and today feels like a victory. Might step into the ring later for some boxing, see if I can sharpen my footwork. Pushing forward, one step at a time.

Today marks a challenge—I will run 10K. I don't think I've ever covered that distance before, but the path ahead calls. Strength isn’t just in the body but in the will to push forward. No matter the pace, the journey matters.

A curious phenomenon: a toddler, weak and weary, barely making it through the night. You book them out of nursery, prepared for a quiet, restful day… and suddenly, they’re at full strength, charging through the house like a berserker.

Red Mars is proving to be a tough read. It struggles to find its footing—uncertain whether to be a grand vision of colonisation, political drama, or a character-driven tale. So far, the characters are weak, and the narrative flip-flops. I’ll push through.

No Star Wars, No Star Trek, Name a favourite sci-fi franchise

As much as I like Firefly, it's too short in my opinion to count, as is Cowboy Bebop. Farscape I liked until it got weird. Doctor Who is a close second but by influence, and sheer laughter mileage and laughs it has to be Red Dwarf.

Today’s session was light—just a warm-up for the day ahead. Saturdays are for family, so it’s all about moving without overdoing it. Body holding steady, but I’ll keep an eye on composition.

Enjoy your weekend, and take care of those around you.

I’ve been persuaded (read: sweetly strong-armed) into another round of Bluey-fueled sprints. Not a hard sell, really—just an adorable one. Who needs structured cardio when a small whirlwind demands your full-speed attention?

Worth it. Every time.

Today’s training pushed me, but in a good way. Revisited deadlifts and bench press—focused, steady, no excess. Wrapped up with bodyweight work before bed. Tomorrow, a weight check. Progress is long

Amusing how today’s group therapy circled back to exercise.

Today is a rest day—mostly. Some light cardio, but nothing heavy. Recovery is just as important as training; strength is built in the balance. The iron can wait, but movement remains.

Listen to your body, move with purpose, and keep the fire burning.
