Thanks for sharing this. I’d occasionally wondered how he was doing. Sad, of course, but he had a full life. I’m glad he was still around and engaged when I was a student.

I've seen this before, where I was asking something like Gemini or Chat-GPT to provide a list of common organic molecules with a particular mass - it's hard to find a list but easy to check the mass of any particular molecule. The lead answer was off by 10x but the rest were fine.

Not every lab got exactly the same date, but they were very close. Scatter is about 0.05% (500 ppm), which is close to the uncertainty of individual dates (mostly 0.05-0.08%), which makes it hard to identify any particular source of bias.

The twist here is that Dawid dissolved and spiked a large batch of solution, which then was split and sent to different labs. This largely removes "geological" effects like heterogeneity, to assess where the community stands. Arguably pretty good!
