I don’t mind either one. I think it’s good to have choices for sure. Some don’t want the full spectrum of a service and some do.

That’s valid. I just worry about trying to move forward I guess. I don’t want see a church move backwards in any sense

I think I also would add that the current priest shouldn’t bring in their predecessor for any services though. Welcome them back as guest and congregants but not in any serving capacity.

And I would say to a point. If they are trying to push how people do things one way over another, then I am deeply concerned about that. It shouldn’t be up to this person how another does a reading or a psalm.

Yeah. My fear is some like that aspect of having control of things including what happens in the church. So there is chance that they may try to regain control if they come back. But like I said in a previous comment, to be welcoming is to welcome back priests who previously have served.

That’s a valid point for sure too. I personally would love to see readers do half verse just to hear how it plays out. I think it should be up to the discretion of the reader. It’s pretty inclusive either way.

Yeah it’s a red flag for me. But maybe it’s also that I’m against having a retired priest back at the church they were priests at. But there’s also that aspect of being welcoming.
