Postmedia, one of Canada's largest media companies, is controlled by Chatham Asset Management, an American hedge fund, placing a key part of Canada’s news media under foreign influence;
Foreign ownership introduces perspectives shaped by American political and cultural priorities, which often do not reflect Canadian values or concerns;
Independent Canadian journalism is essential to democracy, ensuring accountability, accuracy, and representation of Canadian voices;
Foreign control risks skewing news coverage, undermining media integrity, and eroding public trust; and
Other countries, such as Australia and France, have established policies to safeguard domestic control of media, providing workable models for Canada.

We, the undersigned, Residents of Canada, call upon the House of Commons in Parliament assembled to pass legislation requiring majority Canadian ownership and control of print, digital and other non-audio-visual news media, to protect Canadian sovereignty, ensure journalism integrity, and guarantee that our media reflects Canadian priorities and values.

It's been a wonderful experience volunteering to collect signatures for the Forever Canadian petition. I loved hearing about people's reasons for signing and meeting fellow canvassers. Off to hand in my badge and sheets!

Many of us in Alberta do have to pay for Covid vaccinations this Fall.

In phase 1, Albertans at highest risk can get the COVID-19 vaccine free of charge. If you are in phase 1, you can book now for appointments starting October 1. Your eligibility will be assessed at the time of your appointment. If you book an appointment before you are eligible to be immunized, you will need to reschedule your appointment for a later time.

Visit COVID-19 info for Albertans to find out if you are eligible in phase 1.

Phase 2

In phase 2, vaccine is available for all other Albertans age 6 months and older depending on vaccine availability. If you are in phase 2, you can book an appointment starting October 20. There will be a $100 administrative cost to be paid after the immunization appointment using the COVID-19 vaccines payment process.

COVID-19 vaccines may be available at pharmacies at a cost. Contact your pharmacy for availability, to learn the cost, and how to book.

Eligibility Criteria for Phase 1:

● Health care workers.
● All residents of continuing care homes and seniors supportive living accommodations.
● Homebound home care clients.
● Individuals 6 months of age and older with underlying medical or immunocompromising conditions.
● Individuals experiencing homelessness.
● Individuals 65 years of age and older receiving the Alberta Seniors Benefit.

Both house teens are now vaccinated & my pocketbook is $273.64 lighter. Thanks UCP 😒 My pharmacist said she was surprised at how much demand they've had for it, given the cost. We took the last 2 doses they had in stock today.
