I look forward to forcing my coworkers to explain in great detail why they find this funny.
Nice dog whistle, JD. His name is Sen. Alex Padilla. You served with him in the Senate. But of course you called him “Jose.”

On the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War, I want to thank everyone who has read my book, Kill Anything That Moves. It's not an easy read but I hope it's a worthwhile one.

She’ll be a year old in May. I know I’ll look back and say the puppy stage went by too quickly, but I will NOT be taking these quiet moments for granted.

A couple of years ago, my dad asked my sister and I for horror recs. She said Darcy Coates, I said Ania Ahlborn. His response was “I don’t think I could read a book by a female.”
And here’s some truly harrowing data from Deloitte.

Readership of male bestsellers: 55% men, 45% women.

Readership of female bestsellers: 19% men, 81% women.

(It gets worse when you figure in race and queerness!)

I’m watching V/H/S for the first time & for all the hype surrounding it, it really just kind of sucks.

There’s a Reddit thread about the new HP series & the actor cast as Snape, and it is outrageously racist. It’s not necessarily eye opening, but it makes a lot of things make sense.

My employer just called me a bitch because she didn’t like the way I scheduled a patient on her, so not really sure what to think of that….

I have so many books pre-ordered right now, I’ve had to add them to my calendar so I don’t forget when they’ll be charged 🤡

I knew one of the young men on that flight, and to have it turned into political bullshitting by boiling it down to DEI hires is infuriating.

Probably not going to be a popular opinion, but I think we have BookTok to thank for this. So Much emphasis was put on those books being “spicy” that it’s all the average person knows about them.
I find it ridiculous that so many popular books get boiled down to "Faerie smut" or "dragon smut" when they're, objectively, just not. Calling 50 shades "Mommy P*rn" was derogatory but at least that book was spicy AF. ACOTAR and Fourth Wing are fantasy novels that also have romance and sex in them.

i have talked on this many times, but i would like to use this moment to say again, ESPECIALLY NOW, taking a moment to directly support queer, neurodivergent, counterculture, or outsider art is so important and POWERFUL. WE CAN BEND TIMELINES TOWARDS LOVE but it takes trotting together.

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS.

With mass deportations starting today across the country, it is vitally important - for both citizens and non-citizens - to know your rights.

You have the right to remain silent. Assert it. You have the right to a lawyer. Ask for one.

There are a lot of people going out and buying physical copies of 1984, Fahrenheit 451, Parable of the Sower, etc. which is amazing, and they’re great books, but consider adding some non-fiction to your collection, a 🧵

I wish the upcoming Tome app wasn’t just geared towards the fantasy genre only. With the rise of romantasy, I almost feel like I’m on the fringe of that genre, anyway. When is John Gwynne making his romantasy debut?

Friendly reminder that if you buy a book on Kindle, you're only paying for the rights to read, not own. If a book truly gets banned, it will be taken away from digital platforms like Kindle, nook, etc. Consider getting physical copies of banned (or other) books!
