Any theories on why?
We know all of the following things will be true:
1. Councils will front-load as much spending as possible before the rates cap takes effect.
2. Councils will raise rates by the maximum each year.
3. Everything that can be moved to an uncapped charge (water!) will be.

Maybe they were installed and removed by the building owner rather than council? Still, seems short-sighted. If you were in Christchurch, there'd be 5 more sets of bike stands in a 100 metre radius.

Will James Borrego win a lot more games than Willie Green would have? Probably not. Will they be more entertaining to watch? Signs are promising.

After further research: Iceland introduced road user charges for electric vehicles in 2024. Sales have apparently rebounded in 2025 (and they're bringing in RUCs for all vehicles soon).

I'm curious about Iceland. I presume there was some change in incentives but even fairly recently EVs had a 60% share of the new vehicle market in Iceland.

Bishop isn't as tunnel visioned as Simeon Brown on *only* building motorways, but he still wants to build them. He just wants to build everything else as well.

Lots of people are praising Bishop for being realistic about the challenges of paying for the roads, and the other things that have to be built as well. But I didn't hear him say that any of the RoNS shouldn't be built, or their design should be scaled back to something more affordable.

Kind of curious as to whether there is any level of non-performance that would convince Dumars to fire Weaver. Because if any threshold exists, this Pelicans team seems capable of hitting it.

Another Simeon side-effect that's going to amuse me: I think the speed limit rules obligate Christchurch to put a variable speed zone on Brougham St right at the exit to the southern motorway, and where they're spending $80m on a pedestrian overbridge.

Notably Simeon has been much less successful in the health portfolio where he can't try to solve every problem with a four lane expressway.

He definitely deserves playing time. How Queen co-exists with Zion when he returns is going to be a fascinating question. Will they discover some unexpected chemistry like Adams and Sengun did last season?

The three point shooting accuracy might be unsustainable, but the offensive rebounding numbers don't seem that way when you have Steven Adams and a roster of players who are either tall or wildly athletic or both ready to grab anything he doesn't.
