My favourite mini PC has received a 2025 update. Is this year’s version just as good?

Intel’s 285K has flown under the radar for almost a year. Has 2025 been kind to Arrow Lake, or were the naysayers right about it all along?

Oh, so you think you can build a better value desktop PC than a mini PC, do you? Well, good for you! You probably should!

Sorry, that started out more confrontational than I intended.

I’ve never directly compared Oculink to Thunderbolt 4, until now.
Needless to say, TB4 v2 can’t come soon enough!

You shouldn't spend £300 on an 8GB graphics card in 2025. Should you spend the same amount on a "weaker" 16GB one?

So far this week:
Plan A: started working on a video about budget frame gen, decided the idea needed more work than I had time for, shelved it.
Plan B: Forgot GCN2 cards only output 4K at 30Hz over HDMI. Idea scrapped.
Plan C: None of my 8GB DDR3 sticks work. Postponed.
Fortunately, I have a plan D!

You can get cheaper 8GB cards, cheaper cards capable of RT, and cheaper cards with DLSS, but the 2060 Super is (possibly) the cheapest with all three.
The RTX 2060 Super can still play everything.
