I think it's super pointless to paywall callout posts, and I burned my free Substack viewing privileges on it, but Annabel Ross called out Theo Parrish, Avalon Emerson, Tiga, and Underworld as scabs in her Politics of Dancing Substack. So, naming names, which is distinct from Shawn's approach.

Hard agree. I posted about it on Twitter on my burner earlier but I think the key in the nebulous idea of "storytelling" (which is the most overused + undeserving term to describe DJs/DJing) is treating DJing as prose. I think of DJing-as-prose in the same way some think of video games as art.
