Or that the biggest problem is some 12 year old trans girl playing sports with her friends, or that a new apartment building is being built too close to your house as people get priced out of homes every day. I t just makes no sense to me how much of "normal median politics" is quietly inhumane

How can you look at the world and all it's problems and decide that the problem is too many people from poorer countries would like to live in more wealthy countries?

Thinking about this a little more, I don't begrudge any Canadians (or other countries) feelings towards Americans generally or specific voters, I just hope for some empathy for those who may be trying to move to countries that seem safer for trans people, refugees, etc

Living in a swing state my immediate reaction whenever I find out someone either didn't vote or voted for Trump is "There's blood on your hands" Which I don't think is an exaggeration, they were very upfront about the harm they wanted to inflict

I do what I can to push the Democratic Party to the left as much as I feel like a random person in the south can, I just think the online infighting between the 2 labels is mostly just a waste of time at best. A ton of "liberals" are actually very supportive of "leftism" when it comes down to it

Yeah, outside of the US Liberal can often mean more centrist or even center right, but in the US, it pretty much means anyone to the left of the Republican party so it gets muddled.

I feel like in the context of American politics the distinction between "leftists" and "liberals" is largely just how edgy someone wants to be. Sometimes not matching the tone or energy is more important in the discourse than agreeing on like 95% of the things that really matter.

I don't think it would've changed the result, but I do wish some of the campaign funding went into dispelling the lies about immigrants and trans people that the Trump campaign pushed. But in general basically nothing she ever said broke through to regular people anyway.

As someone who has lived in Raleigh and Seattle, I always found it funny to point out that Raleigh is actually the one that gets more rain, it just happens in shorter bursts, I imagine there's a similar dynamic for snow as well
