I admit I did kind of miss drawing these three again and with the 3rd anniversary of their debut game (but it- just, just roll with it) and some news regarding that adventure spinoff coming in, I thought I would at least do the occasion. For one thing, I never got to draw their rebel phase during highschool and that image that was meant to go along with the "third junior highschool anthem" (which is pretty funny with either interpretations, did they set off a explosion themselves or someone meaner than them did it and they actually attempted to save the day as a form of redemption or just out of their heart?) from the Bankara walker kept hanging in my mind for a good while. I did manage to have a proper sketch with Lil'Man, but the rest required me to try out different posing since I would risk repeating myself, I feel like I've done all three of them at their "prime" before. Then came the background and I think you get the gist. I initially intended to have the highschool they attended in the background as presented in the image for reference, but then I thought it would be cooler to just have them beat up some bully gangs, even though they're ferocious looking fishes here. The pond is rather small. Oddly enough, I don't feel quite satisfied with how it turned out. I notice Lil'Man's bandana isn't properly shaded and ends blending in with the background. I also feel could've slid in their catchphrase on their shadows in their "handwritten inklish" but I couldn't quite figure how to do it. Weh, I gotta stop complaining sometimes and just go with the "good enough" for now on. Enjoy these has-beens. Give out some comments here if you want to talk about it or even fave it if you like it. Took my hand in experimenting by imposing black and white limitations into myself a little bit as well as practicing hatching. Turned out way more better than I expected to the point that I got two versions that where rather quite difficult to decide on posting. Might try out with that style whenever I feel like it. A small dumb story that had been sitting for a little while until I took upon inking into a short comic that was supposed to be quick breeze until the blackouts occurred for like... three times and due to my laptop's battery dying out this year, I had to go through instances of hoping that I either saved where I left off or for the software itself making a automatic backup. Also count the updates that usually took 10-20 minutes during rebooting. That sure nearly made me lose motivation there. Also female Eight is the star this time. My Eight knows better than to mess with the princess like that. Unless she pulls pranks on him, but it takes more to actually anger him. Enjoy... your day! That's all I have. Terrible title, I know. I've been dwelling to make a proper character sheet for my take on the director's cut character Madonna ever since (it's an AU? maybe, but also not? you be the judge).

Even though I did a minor lore drop about her from "Before the presses came", I never quite settled in on how she would look like and how she would act (although I feel these small blurbs only scratch the surface still despite me pouring the same amount of effort as baking a cake, with icing included). Well, there she is! Besides the grouped in scene shots (should I call these doodle patches? I feel like it rhymes better with "sketches" even though they're not sketchy) the real challenge came from streamlining her outfit, including the colour selection. I wanted her to be just as striking as the blue blur and the fat doc just as well as being as being memorable... as in, being easy to draw. The description provided by the doc was also quite tricky, but I did find some hilarity in parading his "brilliant scientist" speech. You could just tell how long it took me to assemble this together. Weeks. I might provide some more by the time I make some more art with her, but that means I'm gonna need to bounce back to gushing about Sonic again after all these years. It was supposed to at least. I was going to make a celebratory art piece in the same manner as the Deep Cut (I personally think that the trailer/direct that mark the first appearance of these characters are the real anniversary dates, corny claim, I know) for Off the Hook (why wouldn't I, they're my personal favourite idol group/ duos here), but another special occasion came to mind that was needed to be acknowledged (although I seemingly forgot to share the artwork about that around here, soon enough, it did get quite popular over there though) so that had to be scrapped... for a little while, as there was the release date of the game to still consider. Until I noticed how Splatoon 2 was released at the same date as Mario Tennis (the N64 one, not the Virtual Boy) and despite being another fairly recognizable Mario spin-off, most people only to seem to take it as Waluigi's birthday or something due to him debuting in that game. And then imagined the purple man in 8's combat outfit (?) and never looked back. It's at least good I've got to draw some Mario again, although unexpected. Then again, I do like unpredictability (maan, I've seen so many people talk about this guy quite a lot, even projects being centered around him back in the day, felt like a fever dream). Splatoon 2 is 8 years old at the time of me stretching the description btw. The background is a recreation of their standard album art, just in purple this time. It just fits everything well enough as well as making the scene rather "grandiose" despite its humorous turn. Anyways, back to vacation! But seriously, I dreaded about having to draw bikes as a whole just to fill in the drawing's context, especially the trike and having to figure out what Pearl's looks like since it's only mentioned in dialogue text from S2. Really annoying with the way they're structured, even tried to find the easiest one, but at least they turned look good enough with this neat shading style. Never doing that again! The moment I heard about Shiver not owning a driver's license despite her clear fascination with motor based vehicles is just way too funny to not make a drawing like this. Too bad I decided to not join in this time since my Switch Online expired and need to save enough money for things that matter more. (other explanation? got bored) Anyways, vacation! Just by the very fact that it's Sonic centered and the style used at the time here so it's pretty old by today's standards (watch it get even older once you revisit it 10 years later). Probably serves as some guide of sorts because it's not really related to fan project despite the amount of stuff it has. It really is just something I did for the heck of it (although I do recall being inspired by the actual character sheets from various TV shows used for pitching as well as some of JoeAdok's for his Sonic fan artworks). I remember being so invested in getting each of these characters here despite the simple colouring though. Possibly the first time I've got draw Madonna too if that matters. Actually I recall having my own interpretation on her a while ago yet never got around it. I should probably try to work on it a little bit sometime. Hopefully. Enjoy looking at this relic. Why is it that everytime I make a simple doodle, I always end up building upon it by adding in a bunch of stuff, even adding a background to begin with. Why can't I just take myself easy for once? Will I every truly get through my perfectionism once and for all? ....at least the image itself looks nice. The chibis are last minute additions. Suppose these would be cleverly used like "comic panels" even though there's very little story, if at all for that matter. Other than that, they're nice decorations. Also been a looong while since I messed around with a coloured lineart. Enjoy Pearl getting... squeezed? That's... not actually something to enjoy. She makes a pretty funny face though. Further expanding this into a full blown "wallpaper" (it doesn't meet up the apropriate size to fit in for the current day monitor, but you could still technically work around this if you could) thing was not part in the script. The process was slow if you didn't figure out by now. I could only count the times I kept coming back to both add things and polish the said things as I desired. That's not to say that I didn't enjoy doing that at all btw. I'm very much happy with the end results actually coming together when I wasn't certain. As to why I did this... I dunno, I was feeling nostalgic after stumbling upon some images where the stock renders of some characters from various popular series (although it was from Shaman King in my case) would be pasted onto those vortex/web styled backgrounds that have no rhyme or reason other than to make that look cool... and it sure did have an effect on me. I think there are some old fansites or even dA that still has these, you'll just need to look hard enough though. Enjoy having to think about that philosophical question!
