📈 The past decade has seen spiralling levels of hate crime. Official stats show incidents have more than tripled in England & Wales. With just 1 in 4 victims reporting incidents, we know that this is the tip of the iceberg.

Yet, the government hasn’t released a Hate Crime Action Plan since 2016.

- Designing & delivering policy in partnership with local communities
- Respecting civil society’s independence
- Investing in long-term collaboration through sustainable funding
- Embedding inclusive participation to strengthen social cohesion & resilience

💭 The broader challenge remains: mass atrocity crimes are becoming a systematic feature of modern malign statecraft, used deliberately to destroy, displace & entrench power.

As this kind of violence increasingly shapes geopolitical realities, the UK must update its approach accordingly.

She noted that the UK's approach to atrocity prevention has not been updated since 2019, despite the increasing use of identity-based atrocity violence against civilians.

Successful applicants will co-design & implement a hate crime prevention or victim support project funded up to £5,000.

Organisations will increase their knowledge & understanding of hate crime, developing the skills they need to support & advocate for victims 🤝

This is about more than identifying challenges, it’s about recognising strengths, opportunities & ideas for positive change.

These learnings will guide our work with stakeholders across Stoke-on-Trent as we co-design a new Community Cohesion Strategy for the city 🤝

Emergencies, from COVID-19 to flooding, terror & the cost-of-living crisis, do not affect all communities equally. People already facing structural inequality often face the greatest harms‼️

The partnership will ensure that marginalised groups are centred in London crisis preparedness & response🤝
