Addressing common barriers to everyday biking and proving that you can roll in style—even in Chicago. IG: @ibikedinthis
Closeup of layered necklaces, which make this outfit IMO

Day started out sunny but ended up kinda gray! No matter—creating a new outfit and getting on the bike always makes me happy.

Love seeing how many people are riding with their kids these days!

Nice day for a ride to the lake. In short sleeves, even.

My aunt sent this insane picture from Minneapolis!

It snowed! But the streets were clear enough for me to bike to an appointment in the afternoon. 35 degrees—not too bad! I just bundled up in long underwear, a heavy sweater, wool scarf, and a parka. If I were riding far, this might have actually been too warm.

Also, check out my new stem bag from local maker Tom’s Tinkerings! I can finally get coffee to go without worrying about spillage.

There was a period in high school and college where I only wore black. I wasn’t a goth, but it’s what I felt most comfortable in. Every once in a while I still feel that way.

We should all twirl more often, don’t you think?

Two oversized looks with the same denim shirt.

…an old-school rapper with a friend, me as one of the Louvre thieves (bien sûr), and my friend Kate as a chrysanthemum, or maybe a cauliflower? She couldn’t decide.

@chiwho.bike as Marty McFly with the Delorean, Keathly with his tall bike festooned in Halloween decor, Adam and Candice as, uh, boldly secretions, Kevin as Snow White…

Terrific costumes and another fun Halloween ride with @chicritmass.bsky.social ! Matt and Saba as spiders, scarecrow Olli, Jack as Pinocchio, Kevin the astronaut…

Experimenting with video!*

Blustery weather called for tactical but fashionable layers.

*I was in a hurry and didn’t have time to pose for a bunch of shots

We also visited St. Boniface and Graceland cemeteries, neither of which I had been to before in my decades of living here. I want to be cremated but honestly it’s tempting to think of spending eternity in such beautiful environments.

…adorable puppy dogs out for a spin, Sam looking super-glam, and me, your basic low-effort goth/ghoul.

Also did you know that Ignaz Schwinn, the founder of the iconic bicycle company, was buried at Rosehill?? I did not.

Fun Halloween cemetery ride on Sunday with Igor Does My Bike, where lots of people got into the spirit (ahem): Susan (love the Brownie cap and sash!) and Jamie, Matthew the pirate, Colleen the panda with her vintage Schwinn, Jen the multicolored skeleton…

Nice to see so many contra flow lanes popping up in the area! This is on Ravenswood north of Lawrence.

It got cold! But the fits are still hot.

One way I switch up outfits in cooler weather: different scarves, sunglasses (or glasses frames), and shoes.

Spooky Spokes Showcase submission!!! Ok it’s not an outfit per se, but just imagine @sundance.bikesky.social in a Luke Skywalker costume. “But I was going into Toshi Station to pick up some power converters!” Nice.

On my way to a networking event, so I had to look profesh.

I have five bicycles but I do occasionally ride a Divvy—like when I go to drop one off for repair and pick it up. My vintage Raleigh needed some love—thanks to Heritage Bikes and Coffee for helping me out!
