They really are. I've tried to keep a feeder but it always gets full of ants right away, so I gave up.

I've got crows,squirrels,a coopers hawk family near me. I feed them all. It's fun to see the hierarchy. Squirrels bows to crows, crows bow to hawk, but everybody gets some food. I have a bird feeder & watch finches, robbins, blue Jay's take turns. Nature is truly awesome & centering.
