Dad, socialist, aspiring novelist, IT dude and book nerd.
Don't ask me if I'm serious, I can no longer tell.
And most Americans aren't violent people either. It's just fashionable to pretend otherwise because power fantasy is America's favorite passtime.

Greetings from Chicago, BTW.

Yeah, but I mean most people -- NORMAL people -- aren't acclimated to violence like that. He's not some John McClain secret badass, he's just a dad who runs a fruit stand. Probably been in a fight with someone he hasn't also hugged.

Peaceful men don't kill of they can at all avoid it.

I have become Thar Dude Who Always Has A Screwdriver. It's been more useful to me in more situations than a gun ever would be.

Surprisingly fun thing to do is to check out small local museums along the way.

Because just about every town has one, and they're always run by people who are highly passionate and incredibly knowledgeable about local legends and deep lore.

They're basically quest gives in RPGs.

I definitely think he shoulda SHOT that fool once he had the gun away from him, but I can 100% understand why he didn't.

OR you could just say:

"You mean that community college dropout who got shot in the neck for being a professional racist? Good riddance."

Ya'll need to stop trying to be clever with these people and start being vicious.

American gun culture is just juvenile power fantasy.

People who aren't raised in that fantasy tend to interact with guns in a more normal, human way.

Right. Illinois is also an at-will state but we ALSO have strong unions in a few sectors and we don't have right-to-work laws here.

I think it's a format issue.

It's hard to fit a nuanced explanation into 300 characters and awkward to split it into multiple posts. That and the Too Long Didn't Read crowd is less intimidated by threads than they are by articles for some reason.
