What little empirical evidence I have seen, generally, the higher up the chain of command one occupies in any organisation, the less work you do; it is difficult to see what 'hard' or 'soft' skills these individuals have, or even what exactly they do day-to-day, besides make extremely poor decisions

This is similar to the data on going to university. For ages people kept saying it was more than worth it, but starting in the early 2000s I wrote I doubted it was still true. The data is always backwards looking.

Lately the data coming in on university is that, in the US, it often isn't worth it.

That data is, I suspect, somewhat out of date. Income mobility appears to be decreasing.

My home is Portland, Oregon, ~1,000 miles from the nearest office, so this marks the end of the line for me at RS.

Mind you, the Catholics, while better than most American Protestants still have issues. The Popes who were against Liberation Theology will have a lot to answer from in the after life.

Jesus made his preferences clear, and they were for the weak and poor.
