Interesting, I don't know if we were a typical family but my memory is that 'the pictures' was a once or twice a year thing and the cinema was old and clapped out. Suddenly in the 90s big comfy seats came in.

Who knows for now long. If I were inclined there was probably a solid paper in there about not building artworks on shifting and uncertain technology, or at least not expecting them to last.
