I was the weirdest thing.

It went on for weeks, the house was across the road and I could see the robin, it would stand on the mirror for hours.

Old lad who lived alone, and very private, died last year. Because parking is tight on the estate and our neighbours dont like anyone parking in front of theirs, I started parking my van, with his nephews consent, in his drive. Immediately a robin started crapping all over the driver side mirror.

Stopped it years ago here, lads who wouldn't go to mass any other time of the year falling out of pubs and heading up to the church pissed. Think it was a fight that finished it.

Little did any of them know that in 50 years time people would be admiring them on a phone, of all things, that they carry around in their pocket. Would be surprised if any of those lads had a phone in their houses at the time.

I see what you're saying, but I think you give ffg way too much credit. They look after their own interests first, the average TD in charge of a dept is chronically out of his depth and listens to advisors, who in turn listen, or are in the pockets of various interests. Emigration is a by product.
