A farewell to autumn as we move on, the final splashes of colour now fading in the woods. This was a perfectly still morning, no haste or pressure, no noise but the rush and bubble of water. I stayed long after I'd taken the shot, just watching and listening and breathing it all in. #peakdistrict

We have snow! I know it can be inconvenient and chilly, even if you're wearing a woolly jumper, but every year I love the sense of childish excitement it still brings to even the oldest hearts, and the bright beauty over the hills. If you have snow today, stay safe and stick close to your flock.

The #peakdistrict village of Alstonefield is a peaceful spot now, but in 1308 it was granted a market charter and became a busy centre for trade. If I shut my eyes I swear I can still hear the shouts of merchants sometimes, or maybe that’s just my family getting impatient at how long I’m taking. 🙄
