Politics, cakes, running and sarcasm.
We have an 88 year old woman complaining that her 6 bedroom mansion in Kensington that she bought for £4000 in 1970 may now be subject to the mansion tax. Inflation adjusted, £4,000 in 1970 is about £55,000 now. For the current value though? "She suspects it is now worth about £4 million"

Because it's a bribe. Same reason I cannot accept gifts from suppliers (or potential suppliers) at work.

And I'm pretty sure if someone gifted me a Boeing 747, I'd be taxed to fuck on it as a benefit in kind.

Yep, in this case it seems to be taking some random Rolling Stone magazine article. I tried to expand it to "shit bands of the 1990s with one good song" and it doubled down. Not sure I could identify the Bush song, I'm not searching for it or it'll appear in my feeds forever.

It's a specific emoji for me.

Such a discussion would be incomplete in 2025 without input from AI. So I asked for "shit bands of the 1990s". Some surprising entries in here, have to say.

Good news, Nige. You made it harder for them to leave by ending their freedom of movement, and you want to reduce the minimum wage for younger people.

@martinlewis.moneysavingexpert.com asked this question today over on Arsebook.

Do young people really have £12k to put in an ISA every year? Never mind £20k.

If the Church thinks this is a dilemma, the Church needs to take a long, deep, hard look at itself.

The Express even got angry about these Evergreen Trees no longer being christmas trees, but their photo editor forgot to edit out these being in a "Merry Christmas" display stand.

My local Tesco has been christmasified since August. You certainly couldn't accuse my local Tesco of cancelling christmas. I'm appalled by the christmas music they've been playing for weeks.

But then again, the rage bait articles were even arguing *these* weren't christmassy enough.
